Need your opinion

I am in need of 2 things from all the readers out there...
1.  What scale do you recommend for home use? And which do you recommend for travel use.  We need to get a serious scale.  Not that the one we have isnt serious... but it well isnt... So let me know the good the bad and the ugly about shopping for one.

2.  During D-Blog week someone posted what looked like great mini egg quiches made in a muffin tin they use for breakfast. I cant find the reciepe now can anyone help me out?

THANKS so much!!

  1. We had a salter 1450. I loved it. The Bean broke it. :( I have a smaller one that I use now that someone gave us. I'm hoping to buy another salter when I can bring myself to spend the money.

  3. This is the one we have...
    http://www.walmart.com/ip/EatSmart-Nutriton-Scale-with-Digital-Food-and-Nutrient-Calculator-in-Silver/13848391#ProductDetail

It has a "carb" button that you can use for the 999 pre-programed foods. LOVE it for fruit!!! Put the food on it, punch in the 3 digit code for that food and press "carb" and up pops the carb amount for exactly how much you put on!

  4. We use the Eat Smart Nutrition Scale that AJs Mommy mentioned above. I love the 'tare' option that lets you eliminate the fact that the bowl is on the scale, I love the pre-programmed foods and the fact that it tells you everything, carbs, calories, etc. It's great. I got mine through Amazone and cannot say enough stuff about it. If memory serves me correctly (yeah, right) the EatSmart people have a great website about it too, they have videos of their scales in action. Google them and check them out. It really is a wonderful scale.

  5. We use a Salter as well....good grief, I couldn't even find a picture to link!!! It's been awhile since we bought it.

I use it alot for fruit -- and cereal -- and it's how I measure out pretzels, chips, whatever.

This is the only one we use and we pack it for vacations.

I posted the protein muffins during Blog Week...hope that's what you were looking for :)

  7. We use a Salter as well. It is our home and travel scale. It uses 4 "AA" batteries and I bought a multi-adapter at Best Buy separately. The scale and adapter (and a week's worth of supplies for that matter) fit perfectly into the cheap lap top bag I bought at the grocery store.

  8. Hi!

I got the Salter 1450 for my birthday and I really like it. I haven't programed any recipes yet, but I have done specific single items. It's worked great.

Life is much easier. Especially if you're a nerd like me and want an exact carb count for the insulin. I hate having to round up or down! : )

  10. Not sure if this is the same recipe but here is one I found that seems pretty simple

    MINI QUICHES

1 (8 oz.) tube butterflake rolls
1 sm. pkg. breakfast sausage, cooked
4 oz. Swiss cheese grated or Cheddar or both
    1 egg, beaten
    1/4 c. light cream
    2 tbsp. green onion, minced

Grease 24 miniature muffin cups. Divide each roll into halves and press into a muffin cup to make a shell. Distribute sausage, cheese and onion evenly in shells.

Mix egg and cream with salt and pepper and put 1 teaspoon into each shell. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Can we make these when I come home??! XOXO
